Goldie Initiative Fields Largest Scholarship Class to Date

The Goldie Initiative’s 2019-2020 class of Goldie Scholars is the organization’s largest ever, totaling 12 schools and 23 scholars, including 10 who are returning for their second year of the two-year program. It follows on last year’s class, which also represented the largest participation to that point with 19 scholarship winners attending nine universities.

Founded in 2007 by Chicago real estate icon Goldie B. Wolfe Miller, The Goldie Initiative seeks to support the creation and empowerment of female leaders in commercial real estate. It does this by providing scholarship assistance to women pursuing graduate degrees with a focus in real estate; mentoring and networking opportunities; and career support and development.

The 2019-2020 class of Goldie Scholars, listed here by school, includes:

DePaul University: Jennie Berman, Gabriela Katillus, Sheila Loberg, Olga Olejniczak.

University of Chicago: Kayle Birdoff, Jessie Chen, Kristina Flathers, Rebecca Thomson.

Illinois Institute of Technology—Chicago-Kent College of Law: Katie Bryan.

University of Illinois: Wanqiu Chen, Rebecca Palmer.

Northwestern University (Kellogg School of Management and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law): Kelly Hackett, Megan May, Vasiliki Mitrakos, Emily Mohr, Allison Rabin.

University of Michigan: Laura Hogikyan.

University of Wisconsin: Carolyn Kane.

Loyola University: Kechia Lewis.

Northeastern Illinois University: Christina McInerney.

Roosevelt University: Irene Papierek, Sue Taghabon.

University of Notre Dame: Colleen Quirk.

This year’s Goldie Scholars will be spotlighted at the annual Goldie Gala, scheduled for September 12 at Wintrust’s Grand Banking Hall in downtown Chicago. The gala will also honor Karen Case, president of US commercial real estate for CIBC, as this year’s Shero.

Connect Chicago Fall 2019 will take place Oct. 29 in Chicago. For more information, or to register, click here.
