Gold Leaf Farming Acquires 36-Acre Bard Valley Date Farm

Gold Leaf Farming has acquired 36-acres of farmland in Imperial County, CA’s Bard Valley with plans to continue operating the property’s mature medjool date gardens, cultivated by a family partnership that owned the ranch for 45 years before the sale.

Bard Valley’s unique micro climate of high heat, low humidity and high-water table from the Colorado River combined with fertile soils support growing dates.

Gold Leaf farms almond, pistachio and date properties in California and Arizona. Cushman & Wakefield’s Matt Davis and Terry Jackson represented the company in the acquisiton.

According to Davis,. “Reliable and reasonably priced water, along with the growing market demand for dates as a fresh and healthy snack food, made this an exciting opportunity for our client. Gold Leaf is also currently looking for additional date gardens to acquire.”

And according to Gold Leaf’s Jack McCarthy, the company “won’t buy new properties unless we’d be happy owning them forever.”
