Globe Life Park Will Stay, No Matter What

Globe Life Park, the home field for the Texas Rangers baseball team, will remain intact, even if voters in Arlington, TX approve a new stadium. The ballclub and city of Arlington indicated the existing park at 1000 Ballpark Way will be “preserved and repurposed,” likely as a mixed-use retail, restaurant and office property. The field itself could be reconverted into an amphitheater or public park.

The city owns Globe Life Park, while the Rangers are responsible for maintaining the facility as long as they occupy it. The ballclub and municipality are asking voters to move a half-cent sales tax from the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium (also in Arlington), to help fund a new ballpark. The initiative is up for a vote in November.
