Global Prime Logistics Rents on Rise, Fueled by E-Commerce Demand
Voracious global demand for e-commerce fulfillment and distribution centers fueled a 2.8% year-over-year increase in prime logistics rents globally. Double-digit percentage gains in U.S. coastal markets were also among the key findings of CBRE Group Inc.’s inaugural Global Prime Logistics Rents report.
The Inland Empire came in at No. 3 on the list of U.S. locations with the fastest-growing prime logistics rents, while Los Angeles-Orange County landed in the No. 7 slot. The list was led by Oakland, CA, with a nearly 30% gain.
American seaports and inland ports aren’t among the world’s most expensive for logistics rents, but they did post the largest gains last year, due mostly to the increasing flow of goods into and throughout the region from online sales.
