Gilbane, Strada Development Break Ground on Affordable Tower in Castle Hill/Soundview

City and state officials joined Gilbane, Strada Development LLC and the Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) to break ground on 1920 Turnbull, a $175-million affordable and supportive housing development located at 1920 Turnbull Ave. in the Castle Hill/Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx.

1920 Turnbull will deliver a 22-story building with 228 affordable rental apartments, including 137 permanent supportive housing units for formerly homeless individuals and families. The community will also include a 24/7 staffed lobby, outdoor recreation space, a fitness room, community room, bike storage, laundry facilities and other resident-focused amenities. CUCS will operate a 3,500-square-foot onsite office space. Completion is anticipated in March 2029.

1920 Turnbull is the first of two planned buildings, with Phase 2 set to add 207 additional affordable apartments, 18% of which will be supportive housing. Construction is planned to begin within the next year, pending city approvals
