Giarratana building highrise where Corner Bar stands

Giarratana Eyeing 17-Story Nashville Mixed-Use Tower

Giarratana is considering building a 17-story mixed-use tower on Nashville’s “Rock Block.” The tower, which would rise at 2200-2204 Elliston Place, would replace the building housing Corner Bar.

Plans for the development include 356 apartment units, ground-level retail and restaurant space, as well as a five-story parking garage on a neighboring lot.

Cooke/Wilson Properties owns the properties where Giarratana’s tower will rise. According to public records, Cooke paid $1.59 million for the Corner Bar site in 1996 and $8.3 million in 2024 for the neighboring site, located at 209 22nd Ave N., where the parking garage is planned.

The Nashville Business Journal reports Cooke has a ground lease with Giarratana for the Midtown properties. Giarratana has built more downtown condos and apartments than any other developer and is currently working on his largest project to date, a 60-story condo and apartment tower near downtown’s YMCA, which would be Tennessee’s tallest tower.
