Giant Redevelopment for Downtown New Rochelle

Big things are underway in New Rochelle, which has begun the largest downtown redevelopment in its history.

“This is more than just a dream, this is happening right now,” said Mayor Noam Bramson. “The first of the major projects is underway, a 28-story building with a black box theatre that will be an engine of cultural dynamism.”

New Rochelle’s plan includes more than 6,000 housing units, and more than 12 million square feet of total build out. “We envision a walkable, compact downtown, that is vibrant both economically and culturally,” Bramson continued.

The city has created a new form-based zoning code and new streamlined environmental review. “The number of private opportunities that are outside that agreement are nearly limitless,” Bramson added.
