German Coworking Firm Makes US Debut in Chicago
German coworking firm Rent24 recently opened a 15,000-square-foot space in a loft office building at Chicago’s 444 N. Wabash Ave., its first in the U.S. A follow-up space at 500 N. Michigan Ave. (pictured), just announced, could include up to 100,000 square feet of coworking space.
The first few floors of Rent24’s 500 N. Michigan space are expected to open by late summer, with remaining construction expected for completion by year’s end. The firm plans as many as eight Rent24 locations in Chicago by the end of 2019.
“The start-up scene in Chicago is booming,” Robert Bukvic, Rent24’s founder and CEO, said last month. “There is a lot of creativity here in a relatively small area; therefore, for us, Chicago is the ideal starting point on the American market.”
The company is entering a competitive Chicago market that already encompasses 2.6 million square feet of coworking space, according to NKF data.
