German Auto Supplier Opens First West Coast Facility
Draxlmaier Group is investing $24-million in improvements at The Oaks Logistics Center, a 72.6-acre industrial development in Livermore, CA. The 290,000-square-foot facility is the automotive supplier’s first-ever manufacturing plant on the West Coast.
The investment is expected to help the German auto components manufacturer expand into California’s burgeoning electrical vehicle industry. It includes plant infrastructure upgrades, and new equipment for manufacturing and sequencing of interior components.
Plant operations are set to begin early next year at a site expected to create 300 new jobs within less than two years. Draxlmaier Group’s U.S. HQ is located in South Carolina, but it also maintains logistics hubs in Fremont, CA, and an engineering office in Mountain View, CA.
Trammell Crow Company acquired the three-building, 1.3-million-square-foot industrial project in a joint venture with Bentall Kennedy in 2014.
