Georgia Tech Building 7-Acre “Creative Quarter”

Georgia Tech is building what it’s calling the Creative Quarter to attract companies and incubate new ventures. Like its Technology Square and Science Square before it, the school hopes to highlight its engineering program.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports it would bring new housing, academic facilities and hotel rooms, as well as retail and office space. Plans also include creative maker space, performance halls, soundstages and production studios.

Creative Quarter will go in at the former Randall Bros. headquarters. The Georgia Tech Foundation acquired it for $36 million.

Thousands of jobs have come to Tech Square, which includes Norfolk Southern Corp.’s headquarters and innovation centers for companies such as The Home Depot Inc. Science Square, a new life sciences district, recently landed a research and development hub for Duracell.
