Georgia Now Ranks Second in U.S. for Soundstage Space

With three million square feet of soundstages, Georgia now has the second-most film and television production space in the U.S., behind only California, the Atlanta Business Journal reported, citing a report from FilmLA. The state has come in ahead of New York, formerly second-ranked behind the home of Hollywood.

Georgia grew from having 45,000 square feet of stage space in 2010 to having more than three million square feet of purpose-built and retrofitted stage space in 2022, according to information from Georgia officials, reported the Business Journal

“The record-breaking $4.4 billion spent by the film industry in Georgia last year was a testament to the state’s accomplishments within the industry,” said Georgia Film Office Director Lee Thomas. “This achievement would not have been possible without private companies’ tremendous investments in the state’s film infrastructure, and we continue to work with them to create even more opportunities for Georgians.”
