Georgetown to Unload Two Buildings
The city of Georgetown will soon sign off on separate sales for two city-owned buildings. The city council approved contracts to sell the historic post office building — which serves as the city hall, for now — and the municipal court building. A new city hall and municipal court are being built as part of Georgetown’s Downtown West project.
The historic post office at 113 E. 8th St. is going to City Post Partnership for $1.5 million. The new owner will renovate the building into a ballroom, restaurant and bar. Meanwhile, 3M Square One Properties acquired the other property, at 101 E. 7th St., for $1.1 million, with plans to redo it as a micro-distillery and restaurant.
