Georgetown to Unload Two Buildings

The city of Georgetown will soon sign off on separate sales for two city-owned buildings. The city council approved contracts to sell the historic post office building — which serves as the city hall, for now — and the municipal court building. A new city hall and municipal court are being built as part of Georgetown’s Downtown West project.

The historic post office at 113 E. 8^th St. is going to City Post Partnership for $1.5 million. The new owner will renovate the building into a ballroom, restaurant and bar. Meanwhile, 3M Square One Properties acquired the other property, at 101 E. 7^th St., for $1.1 million, with plans to redo it as a micro-distillery and restaurant.
