Gensler Signs Lease at Historic San Francisco Building
Architecture and design firm Gensler has signed a new long-term lease with The Swig Company at the historic Mills Building in San Francisco’s Financial District. The 45,500-square-foot space at 220 Montgomery Street will be renovated to run on all-electric utilities as part of the company’s pledge to work towards a carbon-zero future.
“San Francisco has been our home for 57 years and this new lease reflects our deep commitment to The City and the business community here,” said Gensler’s Hao Ko. “We also recognize the design of built environments plays an outsized role in the health of our planet, so we want to make sure our own home leads by example and puts our words into action.”
The Mills Building, commissioned in 1891 and now a historical landmark, has been renovated with modern amenities and health and wellness features. It is an LEED Platinum certified facility and Gensler’s future office will feature operable windows, a large skylight and a variable refrigerant flow system.
