Gelson’s Shopping Plaza Completed in Manhattan Beach

Paragon Commercial Group LLC completed construction of Gelson’s Shopping Plaza, a roughly 34,000-square-foot grocery-anchored center in Manhattan Beach, CA. The new Gelson’s market is the first full-sized grocery store on the western side of Sepulveda Blvd. in the South Bay city.

Paragon’s Jim Dillavou says, “We’re excited to offer the first new grocery store in Manhattan Beach in decades. We are grateful for all of the community support, and to the City Council for their recognition that an adaptive reuse project such as this can simultaneously beautify the neighborhood as well provide an important neighborhood serving use.”

The completed site consists of two structures: a roughly 27,900-square-foot building housing a Gelson’s Market, and a separate approximately 7,000-square-foot building that will be occupied by First Republic Bank. Gelson’s is expected to open on November 14 and the bank is expected to open shortly thereafter.

The site was previously an auto dealership and collision center for more than 50 years.
