Gaming Commission Gives Final Approval to 3 NYC Casino Projects
The New York State Gaming Commission on Monday gave final approval to three New York City casino projects, following approval two weeks ago by the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board. Bally’s Bronx, Resorts World New York City and Metropolitan Park will now receive gaming licenses.
All three projects may now move forward under the condition that each appoints an outside monitor to report regularly to the commission to ensure they meet their financial and legal obligations, along with the promised investments they made to local communities.
In a statement, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said, “The three approved casinos will generate billions of dollars for the MTA and education, create tens of thousands of jobs and deliver real benefits to their surrounding communities. Each of the projects made significant commitments to their communities and to New York State, and the Gaming Commission was clear that they will hold these projects accountable and make sure they keep their promises. That is what New Yorkers expect and what they deserve.”
