Long stymied Frisco project could come out of the ground

Frisco “Hole in the Ground” Project Shows New Promise

A community comprised of multifamily units, several parks, new retail and open space is in the works for the land where Frisco’s infamous hole in the ground sits. The original Wade project was stalled by the bankruptcy of the former developer and liens of more than $23 million. Relics of the project include incomplete building shells and the hole that was dug out for an underground parking garage years ago.

The town planning and zoning commission has approved a new plan for the site, called Project X. JVP Management and architecture firm Torti Gallas + Partners are heading up the project. They hope to get started next year.

In total, 700 hotel rooms, 2,800 multifamily units and townhomes/condos are planned on 112 acres. An estimated 1.9 million square feet of office space and 455,000 square feet of retail space are also in the mix.
