Freedom Plaza to Add 513 Units of Affordable Housing

Soloviev Group is including 513 permanently affordable housing units in its proposed Freedom Plaza mixed-use development and public open space plan at 38th to 41st Street on First Avenue.

The project will be one of Manhattan’s largest inclusionary housing initiatives and will provide low- and moderate-income housing units while complying with the city’s affordability guidelines. The entertainment and hospitality component of Freedom Plaza will be developed in partnership with Mohegan. The revenue generated by the entertainment component will help fund the affordable housing program and public green space.

“Affordable housing, specifically the creation of new low- and moderate-income units, is a top priority in our City and nationally,” said Michael Hershman, CEO of Soloviev Group. “We are dedicated to mitigating the housing crisis within our community and intend to develop more than 500 affordable units, while also introducing meaningful economic and social benefit initiatives.”
