Phoenix-area looking at 4th surf park

Fourth Surf Park to Make Waves in Phoenix Metro

Considering the number of triple digit days during a Phoenix summer, it’s no wonder the metro area is adding more and more surf parks. The Gilbert Town Council okayed the needed permits for Cactus Surf Park to continue with planning a 25-acre attraction at Gilbert Regional Park. Features will include a water park, a surf lagoon, a sand beach, a kid’s play area, outdoor cabanas for rent, an on-site restaurant, banquet rooms and more.

It’s the fourth proposed surf park in the Phoenix metro area. Cannon Beach is about two years from completion, in nearby Mesa, about seven miles away. We recently reported on PHX Surfpark in Maricopa. It’s pared back its offering but will still include a large lagoon with wave making machines. And the fourth would be the $1 billion VAI Resort in Glendale, which will also have a lagoon and various entertainment options on 60 acres.
