Foundation Medicine to Sublease Part of Seaport HQ
Foundation Medicine, a genomic testing company, is seeking to sublease a portion of its newly leased headquarters in Boston’s Seaport District, reported by Boston Business Journal.
The company agreed to lease 580,000 square feet at 400 Summer St. in 2019 and is set to welcome employees into the newly built 16-story tower. The sublease offer covers approximately 125,000 square feet of office space on the building’s 12th to 15th floors, beginning in April 2024.
The company’s spokesperson stated that this move will not change its Boston footprint or impact available space for employees. As Boston’s office market faces increasing competition, the availability of newly built Class A office space could further intensify the challenge of leasing office space in the city. The office vacancy rate in Boston was already at 20.6% in the third quarter, according to Colliers’ research.
