Thor Equities and its development partners are proposing a $3-bilion casino project for Coney Island

Former NYC Councilman Cornegy Joins Push for Coney Island Casino

Brooklyn native, former New York City Councilman and former Doe Fund EVP Robert Cornegy is joining the Coney Island venue team as the partnership of Thor Equities, Saratoga Casino Holdings, the Chickasaw Nation and Legends prepares its official response to the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board’s request for downstate casino license applications.

“This project represents Brooklyn’s next big moment, and I can’t think of a better place for a world-class entertainment venue than right here in Coney Island,” Cornegy said.

Cornegy has led the charge on a number of key economic development initiatives. They include the Chamber on the Go program, which provides a wide array of mobile support services to small businesses, and securing a commitment from SMJ Development to provide affordable and sustainable retail leasing opportunities for small business owners helping ensure the development of affordable mixed-use projects during his time on the council.
