Former Fremont Materials Plant Proposed as Huge Data Center

San Jose, CA-based developer Valley Oak Partners has proposed a 490,000-square-foot data center at the site of the former building materials manufacturer USG, in Fremont, CA. The facility would serve as a place for clients to either relocate their data servers or expand their data capacity, according to Valley Oak.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal reports the planned data center is one of many large project proposals to gain attention in Fremont. The new data center development would be constructed at 37887 Shinn St. on a 12 acre parcel, part of the 24-acre property that Valley Oak purchased for $20 million in 2021.

Valley Oak has been quite active recently in Silicon Valley, partnering with TMG Partners to entitle a 1.1-million-square-foot campus in San Jose and developing a 500-home, 29-acre master-planned community in the Warm Springs district of Fremont that includes commercial space and a 260-room hotel.
