Former Delaware GM Plant Eyed for 3M-SF Redevelopment
Delaware-based Harvey Hanna & Associates, Inc., submitted an exploratory plan to redevelop the former General Motors plant in Wilmington, DE into a three-million-square-foot business, fulfillment and distribution campus. The Brownfield Redevelopment plans call for the demolition of the former automobile manufacturing plant at 801 Boxwood Rd.
Hanna & Associates’ Thomas J. Hanna says, “These plans represent a critical first step in rebuilding this storied property into a modern distribution and business campus that can provide a critical source of jobs, and serve as a new and lasting economic engine for the entire region.”
Harvey Hanna, which acquired the 142-acre property in 2017, proposes construction of a thriving modern campus. All three-million square feet of dormant buildings would be demolished to make way for four buildings with a lower overall footprint than the previous structure.
The multi-phased concept plan must be reviewed and approved by New Castle County and other state regulatory agencies.
