Former Apthorp Motor Car Garage Trades on Upper West Side

RIPCO Real Estate closed the sale of the former Apthorp Motor Car Company garage, located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, for $10,500,000. Originally built in 1906, the early 20th-century building is situated at 214 W. 80th St. between Boardway and Amsterdam Avenue and was most recently used as a six-story parking garage. The site allows for a 20,000-square-foot buildable area, zoned for mixed-use.

A RIPCO team represented the sellers, 214-16 West 80th LLC, a Friedland Properties entity, and ZKZ 214 LLC. The listing team included partner Gene Spiegelman, executive managing director Doug Kleiman, vice chairman of investment sales Stephen R. Preuss Sr., VP of investment sales Andreas Efthymiou and associate of investment sales Charles Schirrmeister.

“The property’s mixed-use zoning and considerable size—approximately 20,000 buildable square feet—made it an attractive opportunity for developers seeking to capitalize on the area’s limited supply of available sites,” said Efthymiou.
