‘Foodie’ Hall Concept Approved for Former J.C. Penney Store
Plans were approved for the Haven City Market, an 85,000-square-foot gourmet food destination in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. A former J.C. Penney store that closed in 2014 is being re-envisioned as a diverse dining environment, as well as a dynamic social experience that appeals to Millennials.
Plans include a food hall, gourmet food market, and venue for more than 30 food and beverage boutiques and retailers, complete with a 20,000-square-foot outdoor garden area. Several local breweries are interested in taking space, once the redevelopment opens in 2018.
Haven City Market has received city approvals for interior improvements, and exterior building permits are under review.
It would be the area’s first food concept of this type, and is modeled after the Anaheim Packing House, which has emerged as a popular ‘culinary walkabout.’
