Food Distributor Eyeing $120M Buda Expansion
US Foods Holding Corp is exploring a $120 million expansion of its operations in Buda. The move is contingent on the food distribution giant receiving public incentives. Hays County will consider providing rebates on property taxes and sales tax to the company. US Foods would be required to invest $120 million in the site through building improvements and additional equipment. The town of Buda is looking at incentives not to exceed $1.5 million.
The Austin Business Journal reports the company is considering expanding its facility at 2150 Fire Cracker Drive by 170,000 square feet. The company first moved into the 305,000-square-foot Buda facility in 2011. Currently, approximately 100 workers staff the plant. If the expansion comes off, the company says it might need another 165 workers.
US Foods, one of the largest food-service distributors in the world, partners with more than 250,000 restaurants and food-service operators and has more than 70 broad-line locations and 30,000 employees.
