FlightSafety Inks 30-Year Deal for 90K-SF Simulator Building
The Houston City Council approved a 30-year lease agreement with FlightSafety International Inc. Under the lease, the aircraft training company will pay at least $16 million to build a 90,000-square-foot aeronautical training center on six acres at Houston Spaceport’s first phase. The company will relocate from its current space near Houston’s William Hobby Airport to Ellington Airport, which is the site of the spaceport.
The center will offer 10 to 12 flight simulators, as well as a parking lot with room for approximately 200 vehicles. The deal also provides FlightSafety with an adjacent four-acre tract for potential expansion within the next five years.
Phase 1 of the Houston Spaceport — infrastructure development — is underway. The city’s goal is to market the site as an ideal location for supersonic flights.
