Fitzpatrick Architects Tapped for Tyler Fire Stations

Tyler, TX’s city council gave the nod to Fitzpatrick Architects to design two new fire stations, and oversee construction management. Construction is scheduled to start near the end of 2018, with completion slated for 2019.

The current proposal focuses on combining Fire Station #1 (218 Elm St.) and Fire Station #4 (309 Martin Luther King Blvd.) into a new building. That building would sit on 6.4 acres near Gentry Parkway and Palace Avenue. Plans also call for moving the fire administration offices, currently at 1718 W. Houston St. to a new building on the same land, but that project isn’t anticipated for another five years.

Meanwhile, the plan is to shift Fire Station #4 operations to the intersection of Cherryhill Drive and West Cumberland Road. The station would be smaller, and would hold a single-engine company.
