Fitchburg State U., Shuttered in COVID-19, Sanitized for Possible Use
ECOLogic Ltd., a company that maintains textiles and flooring for commercial clients using environmentally friendly solutions, was hired by Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA, to sanitize and disinfect 460,000 square feet across multiple buildings on campus, including dormitories, to assist the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the specific use for these facilities wasn’t disclosed, ECOLogic said the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requested they be readied. The campus is closed for the rest of the academic year.
“As our campus community has transitioned to a remote learning model for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, we are happy to collaborate with state agencies in making spaces available on campus – if needed,” said university president Richard S. Lapidus.
“We believe that services such as this will continue to be an important part of the cleaning regimen for offices and buildings moving forward,” said ECOLogic’s Brett Van Beever.
