First Residential Development Planned in Charlotte’s URP
Connect Apartments is planned for September 28th in Los Angeles. Here’s where to get more information and register.
North America’s largest privately-owned homebuilder plans to introduce the first residential development in Charlotte, NC’s University Research Park (URP). Toronto-based Mattamy Homes is acquiring two parcels of land totaling nearly 60 acres within the large regional employment and retail center from Crescent Communities, with plans to develop as many as 340 townhouses.
Mattamy’s Mike McElroy says, “Our objective with this townhome community will be to establish a new benchmark for partnership and community benefit.”
The builder will work with University City Partners on a plan to down-zone the land from research-related commercial development to accommodate a lower-density plan that will integrate townhomes and ample open spaces into the URP. Mattamy is seeking to develop up to 225 units on a 37.9-acre tract between Governor Hunt Road and College View Lane, as well as 115 townhouses on a 20.9-acre parcel between West Mallard Creek Church and David Taylor roads.
