The Rudin Family secured nearly 94,000 square feet of leases at One Battery Park Plaza in Lower Manhattan

Fire Pension Fund Crosses East River to Battery Park

The New York City Fire Pension Fund is vacating fire department headquarters at MetroTech Center in Brooklyn for Lower Manhattan. The fund has finalized a 15-year, 20,679 square-foot lease at One Battery Park Plaza, co-owned by The Rudin Family and Allianz Real Estate of America.

Also relocating to One Battery Park is online news organization Genomeweb LLC with a five-year, 3,851 square-foot lease. Currently, it’s based at 40 Fulton St. Both tenants expect to move later this year.
“These commitments are a reflection of the entire downtown market today, which is being driven by strong leasing activity by TAMI tenants and the financial services sector,” said Michael Rudin, SVP with Rudin Management.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Charles Borrok, Troy Elias and Frank Freda represented the pension fund, while CBRE’s Robert Wizenberg represented Genomeweb. Tom Keating and Kevin Daly of Rudin Management represented ownership in both deals.
