Final Phase of West Farms Affordable Complex Breaks Ground
City officials joined with Monadnock Development, Signature Urban Properties and Wells Fargo recently to mark the groundbreaking of Compass Six, the 261-unit final phase of a large-scale affordable housing development serving West Farms. The Bronx neighborhood, rezoned in 2011, is among those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
When complete, the full Compass Residence Development will have a total of 1,400 affordable homes throughout its eight buildings. The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
“Compass Residences is turning an underused strip of industrial land into a truly valuable asset for the Crotona and West Farms neighborhoods of the Bronx,” said Vicki Been, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development. “Once this final building is complete, the development project will have changed the lives of nearly 1,400 households by providing quality affordable housing and access to great outdoor spaces and retail.”
