Fillmore Linen Opens at 168K-SF Business Hub in North Lawndale
Fillmore Linen Service, a locally owned industrial-scale laundry facility in North Lawndale, has officially opened. It will serve Chicago-area hospitals by cleaning up to 30 million pounds of laundry annually, creating more than 175 jobs in the West Side community.
Fillmore Linen Service is the anchor tenant of the Fillmore Center, a 168,000-square-foot redeveloped business hub located at 4100 W. Fillmore Street. Once the headquarters of Calumet Baking Powder Company, the Fillmore Center’s project development partners include J&J Construction and Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives.
“This project exemplifies the positive change we can achieve through collaboration,” said Alderwoman Scott, 24th. “Fillmore Linen Service is creating jobs and serving as a foundation for continued community development and prosperity.”
The Fillmore Center project included several partners, including the North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council, North Lawndale Employment Network, West Side United, Skills for Chicagoland’s Future, Chicago CRED, UCAN, and the Steans Family Foundation.
