Fifield Pursuing Coral Gables Site for 9-Story Apartment Tower

Fifield Cos. is asking the Coral Gables planning board for permission to convert a school property into an apartment project called Chrystal Residences. The company is looking at a 1.47-acre site at 110 Phoenetia Ave, which is home to a 9,280-square-foot special needs facility.

The South Florida Business Journal reports Fifield paid $16 million for the property last year. It wants to build a nine-story/93-foot building with 184 residential units for rent and 16 live-work units. There would be a pool deck and amenities on the ninth floor. The building would total 226,193 square feet. The project also includes space for the school.

The two-story live-work units would be on the ground floor. The residential units would range from 656 to 1,299 square feet. There would be 88 one-bedroom units, 72 two-bedroom units, and 24 three-bedroom units.

Corwil Architects designed the project.
