Ferrara Candy Expands with 1.6M-SF Complex at ChicagoWest

Chicago-based Ferrara Candy Company will build a 1.6-million-square-foot distribution complex at Trammell Crow Company’s ChicagoWest Business Park in DeKalb, IL. With a cost projected at north of $100 million, Ferrara’s new distribution complex is expected to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2021 and will employ approximately 500.

“As our business continues to grow and our portfolio expands, we need additional space to match our ambition,” said Ferrara COO Mike Murray. “The distribution capacity in DeKalb will allow us to continue to scale our network in the U.S.”

Paul Borek, executive director of the DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation, said DeKalb “was a finalist for the company’s interest because of its utility infrastructure, its proximity to Interstate 88, its workforce and its business-friendly taxing bodies.”

CBRE represented Ferrara in its space search. The distribution complex will be built by Krusinski Construction Company, headquartered in Oak Brook, IL.
