FBI HQ Selection Put on Hold
The General Services Administration (GSA) put selection of a new FBI headquarters on hold, pending budget and congressional appropriations. Sites under consideration had been in Greenbelt, Landover and Springfield, MD. However, the GSA indicated that “appropriations are necessary in order for us to make an announcement and move forward with the next critical steps . . .” The FBI headquarters is at the J. Edgar Hoover Building, 935 Pennsylvania Ave N.W. in Washington DC.
The search process had been initiated under President Barack Obama. It is uncertain if President Donald Trump, with his real estate background, is considering taking a different approach. The project is anticipated to cost in excess of $1 billion. The GSA had planned to announce a site and development team by the end of 2016, but delayed that in October 2016.
