FBI to Relocate HQ to Greenbelt

The FBI will relocate its headquarters from Pennsylvania Avenue to Greenbelt, Maryland, after more than a decade of competition, Washington Business Journal reported.

The General Services Administration (GSA) determined Greenbelt to be the best site, citing lower costs to taxpayers, greater transportation access for FBI employees, and a more certain project delivery schedule.

The new campus is expected to cost about $4.1 billion and will house approximately 7,500 bureau employees. The decision marks the end of nearly 20 years of efforts to centralize Greater Washington’s FBI employees in one suburban location, replacing the deteriorating J. Edgar Hoover Building in D.C.
