Family Ends 100-Year Hold on Waller County Land

The Thomas family of Waller County ended its century-long hold on 83 acres, selling it to VEC LP. The acreage at Kickapoo Road and Farm-to-Market Road 2920 is adjacent to the proposed Waller Town Center, and a future high-speed rail transit station.

Jeff Lokey with NewQuest Properties represented the seller. Carlos Izquerido with Bayou City Co. was on hand for the buyer. Lokey, who is also marketing a 52-acre adjacent site, indicated that the land was acquired for investment purposes, specifically, a three-to five-year hold.

Waller County is in the northwest quadrant of the Houston metropolitan area, and Kickapoo Road is a full-service exchange for U.S. 290. “This was the first time that this property was listed,” Lokey said. “The interest level was considerably stronger than I initially anticipated.”
