Fairfield to spend $85M on 10th Houston rental community

Fairfield’s Latest Apartment Venture is #10 in Houston

Fairfield Residential is looking to build its 10th Houston rental community, when it starts work on a 14-story, $85M highrise next to a Whole Foods in Montrose.

Construction is expected to begin early next year. The building will include about 630,000 square feet and should be completed in 2025.

The highrise, Fairfield at Waugh Drive will sit between downtown and the River Oaks neighborhood. The site is less than half a mile from Buffalo Bayou Park.

Plans call for two 14-story rises connected by a large outdoor patio and amenity area, although exact construction details have not been released by Fairfield. The city approved the proposed plans for the highrise in October.

Fairfield is majority-owned by California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), the largest educator-only pension fund in the world, and the nation’s second largest public pension fund.
