Facility for New Portland WNBA Team to be Built in Hillsboro

The Portland Thorns FC and the new Portland Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) franchise plan to build a $150 million joint training center in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Workspace Property Trust announced that RAJ Sports, the sports investment platform for the Bhathal Family, owners and operators of the Portland Thorns and the Portland WNBA franchise, signed a 15-year lease agreement for two office buildings and surrounding land, located at 3220 & 3340 NE Aloclek Drive in Hillsboro.

The $150 million campus will repurpose a facility formerly owned by Nike on 12 acres. Plans call for a 12-acre performance center that will feature two full-sized soccer pitches with an outdoor training area. The facility would also include a 17,000-square-foot practice gym featuring two full-size basketball courts and a 63,000-square-foot training facility.

“We’re excited to have structured a tailored partnership that enables RAJ Sports, leaders in the sports world, to bring their vision to life at one of our prime Workspace locations in Hillsboro, a highly sought-after area in Greater Portland,” said Tom Rizk, Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Workspace.
