Facebook Takes All 432K-SF at 70-Story SoMa Tower
Facebook signed a lease for 432,000 square feet at Jay Paul’s 181 Fremont in San Francisco’s Transbay district. The Menlo Park-based social media company is taking the entire 70-story office tower’s space in what is San Francisco’s largest office lease in three years.
The mixed-use development, which has 67 condos on the top 17 floors of the building, is slated to deliver in H1 2018. Initially, the first occupants will be Facebook’s Instagram photo app division.
The landmark building features a state-of-the-art exoskeleton designed in a saw tooth pattern. The 2,480 square feet of retail space leads directly to the Transbay Transit Center’s elevated 5.4-acre City Park. The 802-foot tower is the tallest mixed-use building on the West Coast, and San Francisco’s first pre-certified LEED Platinum mixed-use building.
JLL’s Zé Figueirinhas represented the tenant. NKF’s Karl Baldauf represented the landlord.
