Facebook Campus Expansion Greenlit
Facebook’s proposed 58-acre campus expansion received unanimous planning commission approval. The giant social networking company wants to replace a contaminated industrial site in Menlo Park, CA with a modern, two-building office campus that features significant landscaping and improvements.
Previously occupied by TE Connectivity, the site was acquired in 2014 and is envisioned to be redeveloped into a new campus that includes more than 962,000 square feet of office space, employee amenities and a 200-room hotel. Publicly-accessible open space is being added, as well as a new pedestrian/bicycle bridge over Bayfront Expressway.
The project must also receive the blessing from the city council.
Facebook’s development arm, Hibiscus Properties, LLC, is handling the project. Los Angeles-based Gehry Partners is the project architect.
