Facebook to Build Data Center in New Mexico

Following months of speculation, Facebook announced it will build a massive data center in Los Lunas, NM. Construction is scheduled to begin in October on the $250 million first phase, which will bring an estimated 30-50 data center jobs and several hundred construction jobs to Los Lunas. The contractor is Portland, OR-based Fortis Construction.

The first phase is anticipated to be fully operational by late 2018. The project could involve construction of up to six structures.

The process to lure Facebook to New Mexico began in the middle of 2015. Between then and now, state and local incentives were put into place, including an industrial revenue bond measure of up to $30 billion, a $10 million Local Economic Development Act measure, and funding of up to $3 million in job training and incentives.
