Facebook Adds Nearly 1M SF in Central Oregon
Facebook plans to build two more large data centers on its Prineville, OR campus in the central Oregon community where it has already spent more than $1 billion building three full-sized data centers and a cold storage facility. Construction is set to commence on the fourth data center this month that’s expected to deliver in 2020. Development is planned to start on the fifth facility next year and deliver in 2021.
The two new facilities total 970,000 square feet, and a 70,000-square-foot administrative building is also planned. The social media giant secured city property tax exemptions for the facilities.
The data centers will be built on 240 acres of Crook County land Facebook acquired for $5.4 million that was annexed by Prineville. That land is adjacent to the 140 acres it already owns, and on which it has built 1.2 million square feet of facilities.
