Expedia Teams Commence Relocation to New Seattle Headquarters

Expedia Group began relocating workers into a new 40-acre headquarters facility in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood. The travel booking company is shifting from Bellevue to a campus situated on the Elliott Bay waterfront that was formerly occupied by biotechnology firm Amgen.

The new HQ started opening its doors this week to 4,500 employees at a more than 500,000-square-foot complex that will house Expedia’s full Seattle-area workforce by February 2020, with room for another 1,800 workers. The campus was designed to celebrate iconic symbols of travel – docked cruise ships, flights overhead, trains rolling by and undulating green space, surrounded by Puget Sound and Olympic Mountain views.

The sustainable LEED-certified buildings feature collaborative workspaces that fuse elements of hospitality. A flexible floor plan encompasses quiet spaces as well as gathering areas, along with plenty of natural light from 11-foot windows. The campus includes acres of dedicated outdoor space, including playing fields, meeting spaces and an amphitheater.
