NAI Partners’ study on craft breweries in San Antonio showed that, in terms of sheer numbers, it has the smallest amount of breweries – 14 – especially as compared to Austin and Houston.

However, the beer scene in and around the Alamo City ends up producing quite a few high-quality beers, the report notes. Newcomers such as Weathered Souls and Cactus Land Brewing are focused on different, and newer styles of brewing, while more established breweries, such as Freetail Brewing, is known for its production of beer across a wide range of styles.

What is interesting from a real estate perspective is that the evolution of consumer habits could see breweries, which are currently considered industrial inventory, become retailers. This could “eventually shift the way the commercial real estate industry categorizes these properties,” the NAI Partners’ report noted.
