CelLink receives $362M DOE Loan for wiring harness facility in Georgetown

EV Car Component Maker Taps $362M Federal Loan for Georgetown Factory

Installing wiring in EV cars is no easy task. What seems like miles of wire has to be routed in an organized, safe, effective way. One Silicon Valley company has the process down and has received a $362 million loan from a federal program to finance construction of a US manufacturing plant. With the money, CelLink will build a 295,000 square foot factory in Georgetown that builds flexible circuit wiring harnesses for the electric automobile market. The company expects to make enough product to supply 2.7 million electric vehicles per year. The company says it will need 2,000 workers at the plant.

The factory is just one of many to try to piggyback on the size and scope of Tesla’s nearby gigafactory in Taylor. Chip maker Samsung is building a $17 billion factory in the area.
