Equity Office Inks Lease with ESD at Chicago’s Willis Tower
ESD signed a 46,884-square-foot lease at Chicago’s Willis Tower, a 110-story, 3.8-million-square-foot building owned by Blackstone’s Equity Office. The 1,450-foot-tall building at 233 S. Wacker Dr. is currently 87% occupied. ESD plans to move its 250-person Chicago operations in June 2018.
Equity Office’s David Moore says the global consulting-engineering firm chose Willis Tower in part due to the “unbeatable amenities, flexible space, and redevelopment plans that will elevate Willis Tower to a new level of workplace environments.”
ESD will be near exclusive tenant-only office amenities, including the planned Altitude Lounge, that has a boutique hotel feel with stratospheric views. Willis Tower recently unveiled new amenity experiences, including Tone, a 30,000-square-foot full-service fitness center, and Tower House, an expansive tenant lounge and casual café.
CBRE’s Gregg Witt, along with JLL’s Steve Stratton and Jeff Liljeberg, represented the tenant. Telos Group’s Jamey Dix, Maggie Brophy and Joy Jordan represented the landlord.
