Entergy Files $1B Natural Gas Power Station Plans

Entergy Texas Inc. filed an application with the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build a combined-cycle natural gas power station in Montgomery County, north of Houston. If approved, the 993-megawatt plant would go north next to Entergy’s Lewis Creek power units near Lake Conroe for an estimated $937.3 million.

Entergy Texas hopes to begin construction in early 2019, with the plant going into service during the summer of 2021. The construction project would create more than 2,800 temporary direct jobs, with the plant adding 25 permanent direct jobs.

Entergy Texas, headquartered in Beaumont, and The Woodlands, TX, also indicated that the plant would have technologies to lower air emissions and reduce fuel costs.
