Ensign Group Nabs Golden Palms Rehabilitation Center

The real estate and operations of Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement center in Harlingen, TX, sold to the Ensign Group Inc. The seller of the 60-bed operation at 2101 Treasure Hills Blvd. was listed as Golden Palms Realty Co. LLC, based in Plano, TX.

Ensign’s Barry Port indicated that the acquisition is a good fit for the Mission Viejo, CA-headquartered Ensign Group’s five other Rio Grande Valley operations. Additionally, “Golden Palms represents an ideal growth opportunity because it combines outstanding physical facilities with a solid team of professionals that truly care about the residents and their families,” said Kevin Niccum with Keystone Care LLC, Ensign’s Texas subsidiary.

The buy brings Ensign’s portfolio to 198 nursing facilities, 56 assisted/independent living operations, 27 hospice agencies, 26 home health agencies and nine home-care businesses, located across 16 states. The company is looking for additional skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare-related businesses to acquire.
