Elm Creek Moving Ahead on Mesquite Sears Redevelopment

Elm Creek Investments is looking into developing a conference center, restaurants and a possible hotel at the former Sears site at Town East Mall in Mesquite. Elm Creek is following up on Phase I of the Sears redevelopment. The Dallas Business Journal reports Main Event is still nailing down plans with the town for the first phase, a 58,000-square-foot entertainment center to occupy two-thirds of the former vacant facility.

Elm Creek proposed dedicating the rest of the first floor to bringing more sit-down restaurants. The second floor of the vacant property will house a conference center and a possible hotel, with a multilevel parking garage slated to be constructed in another phase. The company also plans to develop several outparcels along the frontage to attract additional restaurants and retail users.

The Mesquite P&Z Commission recently approved Elm Creek’s zoning request. The Mesquite City Council is slated to consider the plan next month.
